Orléans is Ottawa's eastern suburb, and that is what brings it closer to Montréal: 177.1 km to Montréal-Trudeau, about 1 hour 55, which is nearer than Ottawa itself. The route joins Highway 417 and follows it east to the Quebec border, where it becomes Highway 40; from there you cross the Île-aux-Tourtes bridge and reach the terminals by Highway 13 and Highway 520.

The real question from Orléans is not the route: it is why go to Montréal at all when Ottawa's airport is half an hour away. The answer is the flight schedule. Trudeau carries the transatlantic routes, the southern destinations and most of the connections, and a direct flight out of Montréal often saves half a day over a connection from Ottawa.
